Quick 5S question that will prove valuable to you

I'm curious to learn what everyone's most significant 5S challenge is. With regards to your 5S program please fill in the blanks in the sentence below. I'll respond with potential solutions and share the results.

Here's the sentence:

"If I could just (fill in the blank) but I can't because (fill in the blank)"

For example:

If I could just get my 5S audits done but I can't because I simply don't have the time

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks in advance

If I could just keep the employees in the habit of replacing tools and implements, but I can't because there is such a need for quick and speedy progress that sometimes requires the use of multiple items in a hurry and other follow-through steps to their processes that hinder putting all back right then.  After that, it seems easier and easier to keep letting things accumulate or remain out of place.

Hi Hemang,

Thank you for the response. Regrettably, your challenge is quite common. The underlying problem here is management has not made 5S a priority and such treats as an extra task. Companies that fully utilize the benefits of 5S realize that 5S must become part of everyday work. Until that happens, 5S will always take a back seat and folks like yourself will feel overwhelmed.

I'd suggest you arrange a discussion with your boss. Explain that you understand the value of 5S but am struggling with how to incorporate it into your daily workload. If, your boss also appreciates 5S he/she should help you develop a plan.

Let me know if I can offer any further assistance.

Thank you,

David Visco

"If I could have enough manpower with me I can do 5S activity as guided by management but currently I am overloaded with work". This sentence I listen from many of supervisors and managers.
