Does your company have a rewards and recognition program for your 5S initiative? If so, how does it work? What have seen that works well and what improvement suggestions do you have? Thanks for sharing.

For us, the recognition is the thing.  Rewards are shared with all with a better workplace. ;)

At the end of each month I tally the scores with a summary of tasks for improvement. Scores are posted for all to see.  The dialog, participation and coaching for ongoing efforts are the culture building tools though, not just the end numbers!  Often this happens at the time of the weekly/monthly audit but not limited to as 5S is to be the way of life.

Summaries are reviewed by team leaders... we are actually just formalizing this part starting this month.

I've seen several types of reward/ recognition systems. The one I like is whatever helps to get traction, each culture is different.
For those looking to start out, I suggest leaning more on the recognition side vs reward. Recognize teams vs individuals and create a health competition with multiple areas at you company. Take a factory floor map and mark off areas/ boundaries that can capture ownership. Score, post the scores, and recognize progress/ progression. -Mike
