width of floor tape - is it really all that important?

I had a conversation with a potential customer last week who said  none of the floor tapes he's tried in the past from other companies worked well.  We hear this often. Many times the result is improper installation or the wrong tape for the particular environment or a combination of both. Anyway, I sent him a few different types to try. I spoke with him today and he is thrilled with one in particular. Unfortunately, his company standards require him to use 3" width. Regrettably, the tape he had success with doesnt come in 3". He's been looking everywhere for a good tape. We found it for him but it's not the right width. Ugh.

Finding a floor tape that actually works can be difficult for #5S practitioners. I know in the past when I found one I was euphoric and stuck with it (punn intended).

Curious, would you question the standards and see about getting them changed or would you just go with a less desireable tape that didn't meet your needs?

Thanks
